Georgian Conservatories, perfect for all homes
Georgian conservatories were built between the 18th and early 19th century. The Georgian conservatory styles are very regal, especially if you compliment with an opulent glazing option. The conservatory was built by those who were wealthy and lived in grand manor houses - they were seen as a sign of wealth and prosperity.
Georgian Conservatory Style
Georgian conservatories feature a flat front extension and a squared or rectangular shape - always employing a symmetrical shape. The use of symmetrical shaping makes the Georgian conservatory simple to fit furniture, carpets or wooden floors. Typically the roof of a Georgian conservatory is high and and gives a spectacular vaulted effect - not to forget to mention the bright and airy feel the conservatory gives.
Georgian Conservatory Windows/Glazing
When you've decided on your conservatory design, the next stage is to choose your conservatory window, there are a range of options available including, high grade glazing that is laminated using polythene membraness that protects you from dangerous UV rays. UV window protection is especially important as it protects furniture and conservatory floors. UV protection glass isn't the cheapest option. There are a couple of types of window to choose from; Self cleaning glass windows, low emissivity glass windows, SGG Planitherm glass windows or Pilkington K glass windows.
Georgian Conservatory Roofs
Georgian conservatory roofs come with a couple of options; roofs can be either made from a uPVC material or glass, both have there pro's and cons, uPVC is significantly cheaper than the glass option, however glass will last forever and uPVC roofs tend to deteriorate and may eventually need replacing. It really depends on your requirement when it comes to choosing your roof, we find that people developing properties for re-sale often choose the cheaper option (to maximise the house desirability, whilst maximising profit), whereas people that intend to use the conservatory daily will take the more expensive glass roof options.
