Building regulations #12

Read our tips on conservatory building regulations

When looking to build a conservatory you need to bear in mind the associated conservatory building regulations. Generally a standard conservatory that is built within the UK doesn’t require any approval as long as you meet the following building regulation criteria;

  • Ground floor and single storey
  • Separated from the property by a door
  • The footprint doesn’t exceed 30 square metres
  • 3 quarters or more of the roof is glass, polycarbonate or a similarly opaque product
  • The conservatory needs its own independent heating
  • Glass or glazing meets safety standards
  • No toilet or drainage facilities within the conservatory
